FAQ'S

Can I get firearms training at ADI?

Yes!  We offer basic firearm classes using NRA course curriculum as well as advanced shooting courses taught by specialized  instructors.  Additionally, we have curriculum specifically developed for ADI and our students.

Where is Artemis Defense Insitute (ADI) Located?

Our address is 11 Spectrum Pointe Drive, Lake Forest, CA 92630.  We are just 2.5 miles North of the 405/5 "Y" interchange off of Bake Parkway.

I have been convicted of a felony... can I still come to ADI?

Possibly… but you can only participate in Less Than Lethal training.  Moreover, your ability to participate is subject to a case by case review by ADI management

Can I Buy Guns or Get My Handgun Safety Card at Artemis?

Yes.  We have our FFL, and we are on the California Dealer List.  However, our gun sales are more of a concierge service to our clients.  We don't stock firearms inventory, and we don't sell firearms to those we have not trained.  We do offer the Handgun Safety Card and Test to the general public for the statutory fee of $25.00.  If you are interested in setting up an appointment to get you Handgun Safety Card... please contact us at (949) 305-6586

What should I bring with me to ADI?

For those of you who may be sensitive to air conditioning, please bring a jacket or sweater with you.  Your driver’s license as a form of ID.  Membership cards, proof of Law Enforcement and/or Military. Your desire to improve your shooting skills!  We provide everything else!  DO NOT BRING any ammunition!

What kind of firearms are used at ADI?

Currently, we utilize the Glock 22 and the AR-15.  More models will be introduced shortly.

What type of ammunition is allowed?

NONE!  ADI simulators do not use ammunition.  We use CO2 to replicate recoil and embedded lasers to mark as a simulated hit.

How Powerful is the Threat Fire?

The Threat Fire is our simulation shoot back indicator.  It also serves as a boost to keep you in "condition red".  If you are "hit" by incoming rounds you experience a jolt of 80,000-100,000 volts of electricity.  But do not worry, there is no amperage on the Threat Fire, therefore it is not debilitating!

Do You Have to Wear the Threat Fire?

No…. it is encouraged, to get the full value out of your training session.  However, we never force anyone to do anything they are not comfortable with.  Also, if you are concerned about a pre-existing medical condition just talk to us...we can often make other uses of the Threat Fire so that the trainee can get the maximum benefit from the training...even if the the Threat Fire is not used in the traditional manner.

What are the age restriction to shoot at ADI?

There is no minimum age requirement.  Children under 18 shoot at the discretion of a parent or legal guardian.  A minor’s privileges to shoot are conditional upon their mindset and maturity.

What is the distance you can shoot at?

A student can put as much distance between themselves and the simulator as they want (without leaving the building!).  Most of our long distance shooting takes place with the AR-15′s, and many love to crawl up to the snipers nest to shoot across the lab.

How many simulators are there?

There are three simulators in our lab...  The VirTra 100, a single screen system, the VirTra 180, a three screened system and the VirTra 300, a five screen totally immersive system.

I am an instructor, can I utilize the LAB for private instruction of students?

Absolutely!  ADI was built first and foremost for instructors!  Contact ADI and we can discuss your class needs.  We also offer classroom rentals.

Can SWAT teams or Security Operators train at ADI?

Absolutely!  Military and Law Enforcement trainers usually employ their own trainers and training protocols.  We understand and respect that.  ADI personnel have the ability to fully train our shooting participants or take a back seat to our customers own staff trainers.

Are Law Enforcement Tours Available?

Yes.  We host several law enforcement agencies, and are under contract with the Orange County Sheriffs Dept.  If your agency or dept. is interested in using ADI for the most cost effective force on force training available contact us at (949) 305-6586.
